The Handmade
Furniture
of the
Highlands
|
In times gone by each
region of the Highlands had it's own furniture. Local
people created useful objects which evolved under the
the hands of many makers.
As the years turned, families would test this furniture
in daily use, and since the makers lived close by, their
feelings about it would be known to him (only too
plainly if anything was wrong!).
In turn through the tedium of making the same thing over
and over, the makers eye would focus ever more closely
on the detail of his products and his hand would smooth
and ease any small defect.
This is how homes were
furnished and this is the spirit expressed in Casemaker
Furniture, evolving old ways to new needs.
Made in upper
Strathspey within sight of the famous salmon river,
Casemaker products grow from the place like the close
grained Scots Pines which provide the raw material.
"When you buy from
Casemaker you are bringing home a part of the
Highlands".
