The original village hall was built in
the 1930's, and the current hall was built on the site
of the old one and it was opened in July 1985. It was
built at a cost in excess of £110,000. Funding for this
was sought from the Highland and Islands Development
Board (HIDB), the District Council and an interest free
loan from a local estate (which was repaid within two
years of the hall opening). Almost £20,000 was also
raised locally through a variety of fund raising events
and Donations.

The Hall Committee,
comprising 15 members included in which are
representatives of all groups using the Hall., stands
for re-election annually and meets on a 3 monthly basis.
Its task is to oversee the management and use of the
hall on a day to day basis. It also runs various
fund-raising functions and has a contingency fund which
it draws on for the maintenance of the hall and in case
of emergencies. The Hall is well used by a variety of
local groups. It is also available for hire and provides
basic accommodation for outside groups, provided there
are no local bookings. The Committee runs dances and
other fund raising events every year. Other local
groups, also use the hall for dances and ceilidhs. And
it is used by various other groups for meetings and
other activities including the Primary School, the
Luncheon Club, the Youth Club, for Badminton, Youth
football coaching, and Scottish Country Dancing.
In 1999 the Hall installed with the
help of a National Lottery grant of £7500 a new kitchen
to help cater for an increasing demand from the Luncheon
Club, Burns Supper, Ceilidhs and Conferences. Also in
1999 with the help of M.B.S.E. two showers have been
installed, so the Hall is ideally equipped for overnight
accommodation for outside groups such as Mountain Rescue
Training. University Groups, or Walking Clubs etc.
