Everybody at Gergask Primary School has the opportunity to go on various trips. Such as seeing our friends in Dalwhinnie while seeing trees getting chipped.

Every year pupils of P5-7 get the chance to go skiing or snowboarding. They go to Cairngorm Mountain. There are different levels such as beginners, intermediate and also expert. The children catch the high school bus in the morning at 8.OOam. I am looking forward to going this year. To go it costs a lot of money but Laggan Community Association gave us a cheque for four hundred pounds because we designed and painted a wall mural for Laggan’s public toilet.

Every year before the summer holidays P5 -7 get to go swimming once a week for six weeks. P2-4 get to go separately because we can't all fit into the minibus. Each week we learn a different lesson and go over what we did the week before.

The pupils at Gergask including Nursery got the chance to go the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at Eden Court Theatre. They went on one of the high school buses. They joined Dalwhinnie and Newtonmore schools. It was an hilarious panto. There was an interval in the middle of it. The pantomime was two and a half hours long. Two people were pulled on to the stage and got a bag of sweeties. Everyone had to sing a song!

The older class got to go out and put bird and bat boxes up. At one point we put up owl boxes up they were gigantic!! We had to face most of them in a special direction in case it is to hot or cold for the birds. The bats get in tiny spaces because the bat boxes have tiny holes to get into.

P4-7 from Gergask Primary School was invited to help with the opening of the Blackwood link path. Dawn Steele, the actress Lexie from Monarch of the Glen, cut the ribbon - so the path was officially opened! We took a walk up part of the Blackwood Link path. Everyone enjoyed it.

At the end of every year P4-7 or P1-3 make gifts for senior citizens. P4-7 go to Catlodge, Glenshero, Kinlochlaggan, Strathmashie and around Laggan. We also sing “We wish you a merry Christmas.” All the senior citizens are always very pleased with their gifts. We all enjoy making a delivery to them!

P4-7 went to Strathmashie forest to do orienteering. We had a map, clippers and cards. We had a practice first then we went and did the whole thing. I was very tired at the end and my legs felt like jelly! But I enjoyed it.

The older pupils P4-7 went to Loch Morlich to do some forest activities. Two pupils who are good swimmers got to go sailing. When we were in the forest we did a lot of exploring and activities. Later on we got to go on the beach to play games. Then we met up with the others that went sailing.

At the end of some terms we all get to go to Laggan Parish Church and join Dalwhinnie Primary School for an end of term service. We sing some hymns and songs and some older pupils read out a few paragraphs about Jesus’ life.
